Our Board and Management
Paul Wright AM – Non-Executive Chairman
Paul has combined banking, health, hospitality and consulting in a career that has encompassed over 25 years in senior executive management with a variety of leadership roles. He has held the position of General Manager for Queensland and the Northern Territory of the Medical Benefits Fund of Australia Limited and has provided executive services as General Manager of The Brisbane Club.
Paul has been a non-executive company director since 1985 and has served on some 16 different company Boards. He has been Chairman of The Australian Institute of Management, The Royal Flying Doctor Service, The Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) Trust and PQ Lifestyles Limited. He is currently Chairman of Sugar Research Australia Limited. Paul is currently also a Director of the Australian Sugar Industry Alliance Ltd and Idec Solutions Pty Ltd.
In 2006, Paul was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for his service to medical administration and to business and commerce.
Mark Richardson – Founder and Managing Director
Mark was born in New South Wales in 1950 and was brought up in Central Africa. He holds the degrees of B.A. and M.A. in Geology from Oxford University, Graduate Diploma in Mining and Metallurgy from the University of New South Wales and Master of Industrial Relations from the University of Western Australia.
Prior to founding Phoenix Eagle, Mark worked in the mining industry, for a short time as a geologist and then as a mining engineer. He has managed a number of mining operations in Africa, Australia and China and for several years was the managing director of two related mining companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.
Mervyn Dudley – Executive Director Marketing & Licensing
Merv holds the a BComm degree in Accounting and Economics and the following professional qualifications – AASA, AAII, AFPA, MAICD. He has extensive experience in the financial services industry spanning over 4 decades, during which time he held senior management positions in both Australia and New Zealand. He retired last year as Managing Director of a Financial Planning Practice.
Merv currently holds Directorships in private companies involved in private investment, property development and child care facilities. He currently chairs the building committee of the East Fremantle Yacht Club. He has also served as a member of the Finance Committee of the Board of Newman College and Chairman of the Australian Association of Financial Planners.
Merv is currently Chairman of the Health Insurance Fund of Australia Ltd.
George Baumanis – Executive Director Investor Relations
George was born in Western Australia in 1949. He completed his education in Perth and went on to join the Royal Australian Air Force where he graduated as a pilot in 1970, serving for 15 years as a transport pilot. Highlights of his RAAF career include a three year exchange with the United States Air force and flying Her Majesty the Queen on her Royal Visit to Australia in 1980.
On leaving the RAAF, George spent 20 years as a Senior 747 Check and Training Captain with Cathay Pacific Airways. He retired from flying in 2004 and returned to live in Perth and manage his business interests, including a commercial property leasing company.
George became a shareholder in Phoenix Eagle in 2004 and joined the Board as an Executive member in November 2005. He is the major investor in Phoenix Eagle and as such is well qualified to take on the responsibility of Investor Relations.
Bob Lloyd – General Manager Commercial
Bob was born in Melbourne in 1948 and has tertiary qualifications in engineering and commerce. He has worked for over 30 years in the mining industry as a mining engineer, progressing to become General Manager of several mining companies and operations. He has worked in several states of Australia and in several overseas locations, in PNG, Siberia, Asia and Africa.
His last mining position was as General Manager of a medium sized iron ore mine in northern WA, leaving that position a year ago. Since then he has been engaged in providing technical assistance to a group which is developing a mine in the Northern Territory of Australia, before joining us.
He has also co-owned, with his wife, two small businesses – a food manufacturing business (since sold) and a successful bookshop.
