Clinical - Geoffrey Mitchell
Professor Geoffrey Mitchell, MBBS PhD FRACGP FAChPM, serves as medical advisor to Phoenix Eagle. Geoff was appointed Professor of Primary Care Research in the Discipline of General Practice at the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland. Geoff’s research record relates to the primary care management of complex conditions, with most of his work in the arena of palliative care. Geoff is also researching evidence-based treatments for clinical problems in palliative care, notably using single patient (n-of-1) trial methodology. He has also conducted research into the GP management of other complex problems, notably Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). He is developing research concerned with the organisation of clinical practice to manage chronic and complex problems using multi-disciplinary teams. Geoff has been involved in general practice education and research for over twenty years. He has been a Chief Investigator in peer research worth $A7.7m, and has had direct responsibility for research worth $A2.2m. He has 80 peer-reviewed publications (including seven in press), 20 book chapters, one edited book (Palliative Care: patient-centered approach published by Radcliffe) and 17 reports and reviews. He has acted as a medical advisor to the Queensland Health Rights Commission.
